Rory O’Sullivan is a purebred Connemara by Landgates' Holly Smoke out of Bar S Heather. He stands 13.3 hh, but don’t let his size fool you, this is a very competitive pony winning many jumper championships both locally and at Calgary's Spruce Meadows. His jumping technique and form is text book.
In 2004 Rory was the anchor for the Connemara team in the three day Battle of the Breeds during The Masters international tournament at Spruce Meadows, Calgary winning both the jumper and dressage events placing the team second over all in the competition.
August 2005 Rory was the winner of the 3'3" Twin Oaks derby and also the 3'6" jumper class competing against horses much larger. September 2005 he won the Maple Ridge Equisport Center 3'6" Mini Prix. At the beginning of the 2006 show season Rory was the winner of both level I jumper classes at the Maple Ridge Equisport Centre Easter show.
In September 2006 he returned to The Masters at Spruce Meadows as the anchor for team Connemara helping them win first place in the Battle of the Breeds. Rory finished his 2006 year at Thunderbird Show Park at the BCHJA Fall Finals where out of 50 entries, most of them horses, he won the Level 1 jumper class and went on to win the 1:10 $1000 jumper classic from a field of 35 entries beating the closest time by almost 4 seconds. He went on to win the year end high point champion 3'6" for the BCHJA 2006.
Rory is also very successfully competitive in both Dressage and Cart Driving. He has an exceptional temperament and diligent work ethic, traits passed on through his offspring. In 2003 he was inspected as an American Sport Pony and was selected Premium, receiving Site Champion with the comment, "Rory O’Sullivan typifies what we are looking for in a sport pony.”
Rory is a joy to have at our stable winning the hearts of many who have worked with him, learned from him and watched him perform.
